BT Network Failure
We have been made aware of an issue that has occurred in the London area. This is affecting outgoing calls from 020 and 01784 numbers. This has been caused by major BT fibre break. The latest update on this from Openreach is: Following full investigations, a BT Precision testing officer identified that 11 fibre cables had been maliciously damaged approximately 2.5KM from Southgate exchange. Upon commencing work to restore service BT engineers identified that due to the severity of the break full new fibres would be needed, but due to the identification of a duct blockage this could not be completed immediately. The blockage has since been cleared and work to pull the fibres through has commenced. BT fibre engineers are continuing their work to restore service, however, due to the severity of the damage and work involved they are not able to supply us with a timescale for service restoration. BT have declared MBORC on this fault, but they have identified the TalkTalk fibres and have placed these on a high priority list to be fixed. We will continue to liaise with our Noc to determine progressive updates and escalating where required. A further update will be communicated once received. Latest update 11:16 BT have advised they are continuing repairs to the 11 maliciously damaged fibre cables approximately 2.5KM from Southgate exchange. This is sometimes causing customers in the London area to be unable to receive inbound calls or make outbound calls. Although BT are unable to provide exact timescales it is expected that services will be restored throughout today as the replacement cables are put into place. Regular updates will continue to be provided.
